Sweden 19 – Poland 11

Sweden (IRB rank 35th) headed into their European Nations Cup 1B match, on the back of a heavy defeat to Germany, as underdogs against a higher ranked (ranked 27th) Poland team that had beat Germany, by 22 pts to 13, in an earlier group game back in October 2012.

Man of the moment, Robin Fransson grabbed all 19 points including 16 in the first half as Sweden came away with a shock win. Enköping RK’s, Fransson got his points through 1 try, 1 conversion and 4 penalties.

This win sees Sweden leapfrog Poland and sitting proudly in 3rd place at the end of the “first leg”. A position that would have surely been welcomed at the start of the competition.
